The thing that most clearly differentiates humans from animals is our ability to think. Humans are able to control this planet with the power of thinking. However, with great power comes great responsibility. The average person has about 12,000 to 60,000 thoughts per day. Of those, 80% are negative, counterproductive and works against us. While 95% are exactly the same repetitive thoughts as the day before. So what are you in the habit of telling yourself? The quality of our existence rests on the quality of our thought patterns and our internal beliefs.

Where Do Beliefs Come From?

They don’t just pop into you head out of thin air. The beliefs you have about anything in your life are created over a period of time through a consistent way of thinking. Repeating old hurts or memories about the past keeps you in a state of negativity and oppose the very person we wish to become. If your beliefs were shaped by positive streams of thought, you’d be left with positive beliefs which are precursors to overcome, achieve and succeed in life. The point is, your failure or success in anything, large or small, will depend on your thoughts.

The Power of Positive Thinking

To harness the power of positive thinking, you first need to take control of your beliefs. Once you start to recognize and change your beliefs in a positive way, you will start to see positive results. If you want to be successful in your career or relationship. The Science

There is something in your brain called the Reticular Activating System (RAS). At any point in time, we are being bombarded with over 14,000,000 bits of information. This would overload our brain with data if we didn’t have some way to filter the incoming information so the important stuff makes it through and to delete the unnecessary information around us. Have you ever decided that you wanted to buy a certain car, and shortly there after, you see cars everywhere like the one you wanted? That is how the RAS works.

How Your Thoughts Create Your Reality

It is our thoughts that determines what’s important and this is the basis of our RAS in allowing the information to come in to our system. Our thoughts grows in two ways. First, it grows in noticeability. You get more evidence of the thing that you are noticing, that it exists all around you. But then, once you notice it, you are likely to act, subconsciously and consciously, in ways that expand that thing, create more of that thing, multiply that thing, or bring more of that thing into your experience, in a very tangible way. If you care about positivity, for example, you will become more aware of and seek positivity.  If you think about what you want instead of what you don’t want, your RAS will reveal the people, information and opportunities that help you achieve them. Different opportunities show up, different people show up resulting in different behaviors and actions that can transform you into the person you want to be. All of these actions, opportunities, create a road map for us and stem from the power of beliefs.

What Can You Do?

You can deliberately program the RAS by choosing the exact messages you send from your conscious mind. For example, you can say positive messages such as “I have the power to create change”. Second, your RAS cannot distinguish between ‘real events’ and ‘synthetic’ reality. In other words it tends to believe whatever message you give it. Repeating positive messages work, in part, because we set our RAS to pay attention to the things that will help us confirm our message! Your RAS will look for information to prove you right, regardless if you think negatively or positively. The brain simply believes what you tell it most.  And what you tell it about you, it will create. It has no choice. So direct your life from now on and use your RAS.

Try This Three Step Process:

1) Locate your negative thoughts
2) Remove them, and
3) Replace your thoughts with positive thoughts about you.

Say: “I love myself for who I am.”

Instead of saying, “I’m a failure and I’m no good,”

Say: “I have the strength to succeed.”

Instead of saying, “I’ll never find the perfect partner,”

Say: “I am loved, loving and lovable.”
